Not all dentists treat patients as part of discount plans, so you will have to confirm if you are going to a participating dentist.

  2. For extensive treatments, you can maximize your benefits by starting treatment in 2016 and completing the remaining treatment in 2017. If you have an annual maximum dental benefit, spreading costs out over 2 years can reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
  3. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) can be used to pay for dental treatments. You usually have to use the money in an FSA during a calendar year, or lose the money, so consider your dental care as a way to use up any extra dollars. Or, consider investing in an FSA for next year if you know you need an extensive treatment in the future.

Most check-up visits are covered by insurance at no cost to the patient or for a small deductible. If further treatment is required, maximize your benefits by applying your 2016 benefits. How it Works
